TDM has provided railway CCTV maintenance for South Western Railway’s Metro control and recording equipment at Feltham and Wimbledon stations since 2005. This long-term partnership began with the TfL Safety & Security Phase 2 project installation, which initially comprised Tecton digital video recorders and Synectics matrix systems. Over eighteen years, the systems expanded significantly to support CCTV growth across SWR’s network, with DVRs increasing from 96 to 145 units in total.
When Tecton closed in January 2019, TDM acted quickly to safeguard system continuity. As a result of our existing fifteen years of Tecton experience, we were well placed to manage the transition without disruption to live operations.
To ensure ongoing reliability, we took the following approach:
Rather than recommending costly full system replacement, TDM leveraged its in-depth knowledge of Tecton equipment to keep the infrastructure operational. Furthermore, by creating a dedicated Nucleus test system in our workshop, we were able to validate all updates and patches before deployment, therefore eliminating the risk of live system disruption.
The Metro CCTV project exemplifies TDM’s capability in railway CCTV maintenance, particularly when managing complex legacy systems through significant business disruptions. Consequently, the successful transition from manufacturer support to specialist third-party arrangements demonstrates both our adaptability and our technical depth.
The ongoing partnership with JTH Technical Services, combined with our comprehensive testing procedures, ensures continued system reliability whilst managing long-term obsolescence risks, making TDM a trusted partner for mission-critical railway infrastructure support.
