TDM’s information display solutions encompass the full range of passenger and operational display systems used in critical infrastructure environments, from Customer Information System displays showing real-time train running information, to dynamic operational displays in control rooms and command centres, to wayfinding and messaging screens across complex multi-site estates.
Every installation we deliver is designed around the specific environment it serves. Because no two sites are identical, our approach begins with detailed surveys that inform tailored mounting solutions, connectivity designs, and equipment specifications. As a result, whether we are working in a listed heritage building, a live operational station, or a purpose-built control room, we design a solution that works within those constraints, rather than asking the environment to fit a standard template.
Since 2000, TDM has been delivering information display solutions across the UK for infrastructure operators with some of the most demanding requirements in the sector. Moreover, our in-house design and manufacturing capability, including custom mounting brackets and columns manufactured at our Crawley facility, means we can tailor every installation to its environment. TDM has delivered CIS systems across major network hubs, rural stations, and heritage environments. Specifically, this includes Infotec displays integrated with 4G connectivity where fixed network infrastructure is unavailable. As a result, operators get reliable real-time passenger information without costly civil engineering works.

Consequently, every mounting solution is engineered specifically for its environment, accommodating heritage constraints, platform geometry, structural requirements, and control room configurations that off-the-shelf solutions cannot address. This capability removes a common point of programme delay and cost uncertainty.

Where fixed network infrastructure is absent or impractical, TDM therefore designs and implements alternative solutions, including 4G-enabled displays and point-to-point Wi-Fi bridges. Consequently, operators avoid the cost and disruption of extensive civil engineering works entirely.
All TDM information display installations are specified to meet applicable accessibility standards. In particular, this includes Audio Frequency Induction Loop (AFIL) and Ampetronic induction loop panel installations for hearing aid users. Additionally, display specifications meet visibility and legibility requirements for passengers with visual impairments.
Long-term reliability depends on what happens after installation. TDM provides planned preventive maintenance, reactive support, and system upgrades for information display infrastructure throughout their operational life. TDM provides full O&M documentation at project handover and offers long-term maintenance partnerships to keep systems performing reliably throughout their operational life.

Where fixed network infrastructure is absent, TDM does not default to expensive civil engineering works. Instead, we design and implement alternative connectivity solutions, including 4G-enabled displays and point-to-point Wi-Fi bridges, that deliver the required functionality at a fraction of the cost and programme impact. Our Isle of Wight Island Line project demonstrated this approach in practice, eliminating the need for cable routes across island platforms that would have significantly increased both cost and disruption.

Our Five-Stage Delivery Process
Every information display project follows TDM’s five-stage delivery framework. Whether installing a single display or coordinating a multi-site programme across twenty stations, the same rigour applies at each stage. This is because thorough preparation is ultimately what makes reliable delivery possible, and what separates a well-managed programme from one that runs into avoidable problems on site.
Before any design work begins, TDM conducts detailed site surveys across all locations. During these surveys, we assess existing infrastructure, connectivity options, mounting constraints, heritage requirements, and accessibility considerations. As a result, every solution is grounded in a thorough understanding of the environment it will serve.
System design with full technical documentation, display specifications, tailored mounting designs, connectivity solutions, cable routing plans, and consent requirements identified for each site.
Managed installation by TDM’s own NICEIC-certified engineers, coordinated around your operational requirements and any consent conditions to minimise disruption to live operations.

TDM delivered CIS improvements across twenty stations for Great Western Railway, including a complete CIS installation at Parson Street. All mounting brackets and columns were designed and manufactured in-house, with heritage-compliant solutions delivered at three listed stations: Chippenham, Maiden Newton, and St Erth. The programme was completed on time and within the budget, covering sites ranging from major hubs including Oxford and Exeter St David’s to smaller rural stations across the GWR network.
TDM delivered CIS installations across five Island Line stations for South Western Railway in 2022–2023, meeting a DfT Business Plan Commitment deadline of 31 March 2023. Working within heritage constraints at Brading listed station and overcoming limited connectivity across island platforms, TDM implemented an innovative Wi-Fi bridge solution to deliver IP connectivity without extensive civil works, significantly reducing both cost and programme duration. The project was completed on time and within the budget.
TDM delivered Great Western Railway’s new Security Operations Centre in Swindon, acting as system integrator between Barco and GWR’s security and resilience team. The project combined a Barco UniSee video wall, the LAN network the system runs on, and a full VMS upgrade, bringing CCTV, live train data and operational data together on a single, unified platform.
