NIS Operating Terminals

NIS is a third-generation communication system that combines a variety of communication services and third-party applications in a single system. It is used

primarily for safety-critical applications, i.e. by railway operators, metro systems and road traffic. By virtue of its scalable concept it is equally well suited for large networked systems and small compact systems.

TDM’'s central operating terminal for the NIS platform is used to handle all the functions of the system including: emergency and information calls, announcements, radio calls, phone calls etc.

It communicates with the relevant NIS server (ComNode) via LAN, voice transmission is by VoIP and the SIP protocol is used for signalling. With a range of terminals available, inputs can be made via the touchscreen monitor and calls can be made using a sturdy handset, a high-quality gooseneck microphone or a wireless headset.
