Sometimes there’s nothing better than a member of staff on the ground to respond to unfolding situations.
Trans Data Management provided station staff with hand-held Teleque microphones, designed specifically for railway platform announcements. Staff at Virgin train stations are now able to remotely call to the Public Announcement systems on other platforms within the station. This ensures that platform alterations, station announcements during disruptive periods and safety procedures are quickly and efficiently relayed to the public via the hand-held device.
Staff on the ground are able to keep the station control room operator informed about passenger movements especially during times of high passenger volume and react immediately to changing situations by making station wide announcements from any part of the station complex.
Birmingham International Railway Station is one of the largest railway stations managed by Virgin Trains and serves both Birmingham Airport and the National Exhibition Center (NEC). The Station Manager for Birmingham International added about our platform based comm's system:
